SIX OUT OF FIVE – Cottage 1 is an amazing little spot against the most incredible backdrop and the nicest hosts, ever!! Our family of four stayed for this past Thanksgiving week in Cottage 1. I don’t think the pictures do this Cottage justice – it’s so nice. I loved the open concept; it was fiercely cleaned for our arrival and all ’round nicely and simply decorated. Small but loaded kitchen and a great little bathroom. **Terrific views. Just phenomenal.** My four year old loved the park by the beach – and no wonder; it’s really nicely appointed. My 9 month old actually couldn’t find much to destroy in the cottage because it was so tidy upon our arrival, ha ha. Our hosts made themselves known and were genuine, friendly and responsive to our inquiries – they actually jumped on a brief issue with the WIFI before we even noticed it. I literally felt like family when they came by in advance of a forecast wind storm to ensure we were comfortable and knew how to engage them for a potential generator install (we didn’t need it in the end). Real hoping we find ourselves back here in a few years!! Cheers
I couldn’t be happier with my experience at view of the sea. Everything from the breathtaking scenery to the quaint, cozy cottage exceed my expectations. Our cottage was outfitted with everything we needed. The kitchen was very well equipped, we cooked multiple meals with ease; while the bathroom was stocked with complimentary toiletries as well as plenty of fresh linens. The bed was very comfortable, and although the cottage was warm and cozy, extra blankets and pillows were available just incase. Mark and Gina are excellent hosts, more than willing to provide anything we needed, always with a kind smile. I will most definitely return to view of the sea for another relaxing stay!

How appropriate the name ‘View of the Sea’ Beautiful was the view from sunrise to sunset.Ideal location to stay while touring Cape Breton ‘s famous attractions.. Mark was warm and friendly making us feel right at home. and making our new dog feel welcomed as well. We highly recommend this home away from home.

Mark and Gina were amazing hosts! We booked the cottages last minute for three nights and wished we had time to stay even longer. The cottages sit on a beautiful property with a private beach over looking gorgoues mountains. We woke every morning to see this view from the outside of our window. The cottage has a kitchen, TV, satellite, bathroom, small two person table and sofa. Outside is a porch and barbecue that we used as well. Down by the beach they have a fire pit which we used every night we were there. Mark and Gina were extremely kind people and made us feel very welcomed. They even gave us a lot of tips on the tourists attractions and local restaurants near by! If you rent from them you will not be sorry and for the price you can’t beat it! We live in New York City and plan on coming back again!

Thank you Mark and Gina I had a wonderful time at number one cottage. The cottage was lovey and spotless and the beach was fantastic. The only thing nicer then the veiw was the people. I look forward to returning next year.

We stayed for a week and wished it could have been longer. Mark and Gina are wonderful hosts willing to do anything to make your stay more enjoyable. They offer a beautiful spacious location with spectacular views. Their spot has plenty of green space and my grandchildren loved the playground equipment and the sandy beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our campfire on the beach. The cottage was clean, well equipped and offered sufficient space. They are located within a very short distance to the highway which allows for easy access for day trips to Sydney and the surrounding areas. Thank you for a fabulous vacation spot and we hope to come again.
We stayed at the cottages in July 2018 for about 6 days and ill never stay anywhere else. Mark was amazing for setting us up with about 10 minutes notice and we lucked out with an empty cabin. It was absolutely beautlful and well kept. The pictures do not do it justice to how clean and well kept they are. Mark went out of his way to answer our questions and even to let us know we left a couple things behind. Behind the cottages lives a dog named Rylee and she absolutely made our trip. She greeted us for coffee every morning and followed our son to the beach and playground (30 second walk away… perfect!) Everyday. My only compaints were 1. We couldnt stay long and 2. We couldnt take Rylee home. This is the perfect vacation spot. Our family lives close and they had no problem with them stopping by. I absolutely recommend view of the sea cottages and will be returning everytime we go home to Cape Breton. Thank you Mark and Gina!

we actually came down a few years ago and had an absolute wonderful time gorgeous setting absolutely beautiful sunsets, wildlife, boats and not far from major town and big plus dog friendly and super welcoming owners . We have been trying to come down agaim for a couple years , hopefully we will be down this year. definitely our favorite vacation spot so far
Loved our stay. Everything was perfect. Thanks again for making us feel welcome and comfortable. I look forward to our return next year. Missing the view, our new friends from cottage #2 and all the special visits from the 4 legged kids. It was hard to leave this morning.

Just spent six awesome nights at cottage three. All you really need to bring is some clothes and a toothbrush! Everything was way beyond expectations,Perfect. Mark and Gina are very hospitable, which is a genuine `down home` trait.The first day there, we asked Mark to book us ten days ,the first two weeks of June 2018.We are sure this is going to be an annual event for us. P.S .Hey Sam, I`m bringing my acoustic down next year.I`ll show you Barre Chords.

We stayed for 4 nights while I was in the area for work. Beautiful views and the cabins had everything we needed for our stay. Enjoyed our daily visits from the other dogs who seemed to enjoy visiting with our Molly. Was a good location for working in Sydney and I will hopefully be back again.
Thanks Mark & Gina for a wonderful stay at your cottage the week of August 21-28. We have enjoyed numerous vacations at View of the Sea cottages, and it’s always hard to leave. We love this location and stunning view. My only concern is – since I’ve referred your cottages to friends, the word is out…and perhaps won’t be available when we want to rent again!

Norm and I so thoroughly enjoyed our week with you (July 31-Aug 6), in cottage #2. You really thought of everything to make us feel at home. From the nice bottle of water in the fridge on arrival, to that coffee for the first pot before we got groceries, that kitchen was amazing. The quiet beautiful view kept us out on the deck from dawn til late into the starry nights. You truly are some of the great hearts of Cape Breton. We were so sad to leave, but thrilled to book with you for holidays next year. See you in June. Thoughts of cottage 2 will keep us warm through the snowy winter. Big hugs dear friends.

We just spent the last week at View of the Sea cottages. We were most impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage and surrounding area. The owners are detailed oriented, there was a lovely little welcome basket in the bathroom and a case of water in the fridge. There was plenty of towels and linen for our week stay. There was plenty of wood and cardboard for a nightly fire. The scenery was breathtakingly beautiful. You can see the water from your cabin and the evening breeze was so refreshing. There is even a small but cute play area for children. Satellite TV was appreciated on rainy days…..a wonderful place that we highly recommend.
As we near the end of another wonderful stay in cottage 3, we are already feeling sad to be leaving this beautiful spot. Our first stay here was in 1999 when the cottages were operated by Gina’s father and mother, Gerald (“Sam”) and Mary, and we’ve been back every year since – 18 visits and counting. How lucky are we! We never tire of the view of Cape Breton’s inland ocean – the Bras d’Or Lakes, Mark and Gina’s warm hospitality, or the immaculate well-equipped cottage and meticulously-kept grounds. We highly recommend View of the Sea Cottages and look forward to next year’s visit.

My brothers, sister and I thoroughly enjoyed the week we spent staying at your cottages. The view was spectacular! We were all impressed with how nice the cottages were and how apparent it was that they were well taken care of. We thoroughly also thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside soaking in the view from the very well groomed and maintained grounds and friendly atmosphere. It was a sheer pleasure watching Riley! Tell her I said hello back and look forward to seeing her again sometime in the future. I will definitely think of your cottages when I visit again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vacation spot there.

Every year we look forward to our stay at View of the Sea cottages. These cottages are perfect. All amenities in them, extremely clean and beyond comfortable. Central to all of Cape Breton’s hot spots (if you dare leave the beauty of the this location!!!!) Mark and Gina are beyond accommodating and all around amazing people. When we come down the lane we feel like we are back “home”. We cannot stress enough to make these cottages your main stay when in Nova Scotia/Cape Breton! Beautiful cottages. Beautiful views. Beautiful people.

We have people from all over the world spend their family vacation with us. It is great to meet them and show them the way of life we have here in Cape Breton. Also, almost every year we receive bookings for all 3 cottages for family reunions. Having all of the grounds to themselves and having all of the family together again, they have a great time.
